1. THE NEW YORKER COVER STORIES: NEW YORK, NY!


March 5, 2004 (SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – The New Yorker Cover Stories 2004, New York, NY! will be hosted by Meyerovich Gallery in the heart of Union Square, San Francisco for its 4th annual show. This exciting exhibit will be starting off with a BANG on Thursday evening, March 4, 2004, with an opening party.


An exhibition of classic and contemporary cover art from The New Yorker will be on display at San Francisco’s Meyerovich Gallery from March 5th – 19th. Meyerovich Gallery is the exclusive Northern California venue for this show, which will make additional appearances only in Los Angeles and New York. The exhibit, “Cover Stories: New York, NY!” features more than forty covers that celebrate the city that never sleeps. In its seventy-nine-year history, The New Yorker’s covers have featured many wonderful works of art and social commentary. From the iconic Eustace Tilley to the humorous New Yorkistan, the magazine’s covers are always the talk of the town.


2. THE NEW YORKER COVERS BY BAY AREA ARTISTS

In parallel, from March 5 – April 1, 2004 the Meyerovich Gallery is also proud to host “The New Yorker Covers by Bay Area Artists” including over twenty original paintings by local Bay Area artists from which the New Yorker Covers and/or inserts were created. Bay Area artists include: Mark Ulriksen, Eric Drooker, Owen Smith, Winston Smith, and George Riemann.
